The Broncos are struggling physically and maybe mentally going into their AFC West championship showdown this week at San Diego. The Broncos' three-game lead in the division is down to one, and the Chargers would win the division title with a win on Sunday night because they own the tiebreaker. Denver can't even go into the must-win game with a full squad. This week, tailbacks P.J. Pope and Selvin Young went on injured reserve, leaving the Broncos with seven tailbacks on injured reserve. Overall, 16 players are on IR, lost for the season. Against the Chargers, someone has to run the ball to keep the defense honest. "We can't drop back every play and put Cutler in those situations," running back Tatum Bell said. Read more...

Broncos sign running back reinforcements (AP)

The reinforcements have arrived in the Denver Broncos' battered backfield: Cory Boyd and Alex Haynes, both of whom were recently cut by the team. The Broncos needed them back after losing Selvin Young (back) and P.J. Pope (hamstring) to season-ending injuries Sunday against Buffalo. They are the sixth and seventh tailbacks the Broncos have had to place on injured reserve this season. Read more...
